Every Monday is micro loan Monday for us, we spend the day collecting money, encouraging, and praying with our recipients.
Today was such a special Monday...
Remember our third micro loan recipient Nurise? We hadn't seen her in almost a month. Between us sleeping at the hospital waiting for Samuel to be born and Nurise at another hospital with her sick mom, our schedules just never allowed it. So today we spent a long time catching up. She began telling us that last week she traveled to the Dominican Republic border to buy some cheaper product. She was able to buy so much that she had a bag on her head and one in each hand and she still had a bucket. She asked a teenage boy if he could help her take it to the bus and she would then pay him. As they began walking to the bus the boy ran off with the bucket, Nurise wasn't able to do anything. The bucket was full of cooking oil, 5 gallons worth! She had bought it for about $50US. She was pretty upset when it happened, but she turned it all over to The Lord, trusting He had a plan. As she was telling us this story she had tears in her eyes, I was full of sorrow but also SO full of joy. A couple of weeks ago when I first shared Nurise's story and a picture of her micro loan I had a supporter send me $50...EXACTLY what she needed to cover the loss of the oil! The supporter said the money wasn't for anything particular but just to bless her. I just received the money last week and today was the first day we've seen her. When she finished telling us the story we reminded her that she's a daughter of the King and He sees her need and the way she handled the situation. We shared that someone had heard her story and felt led to give the money. When we handed it to her we were ALL in tears! This is our God! In the midst of a terrible situation, He makes himself SO known and we all sit back and marvel at His awesomeness. Just to show you how much God is working in Nurise's life...
