Mark 16:15 says “go into the world and preach the gospel
to every living creature.” That piece of scripture perfectly depicts what I
want to do in Haiti, simply tell the people about Jesus.
My senior class is taking a mission trip to Haiti in
February 2013. On this trip, I intend to
help the people of Haiti in any way possible.
I will be meeting new friends
along the way as well as those I’ve met in letters and phone calls but never in
person, and growing in the friendships I have now (because everyone knows that
you aren’t truly best friends until you have spent a week in a third world
country together).
You might be asking yourself, what can a senior class
even do in Haiti? Well let me tell
you! My parents are chaperoning the team. There are 4 students going: 2 girls and 2 guys. We will be staying in my sister’s new house,
where I hope and pray I won’t get attacked by…or even see a giant spider! Let’s just say, those things give me
nightmares. Some of our main projects in
Haiti will be: Passing out Christmas
Bags for Haiti, painting and fixing stuff at an orphanage, filling buckets of
food for village ministry, door to door ministry, stabilizing the walls at a local
church, and any other things Jenny has planned for us. We have an awesome team who has said they
love working hard and are willing to do anything that comes our way!
I’ve had the opportunity to work in Haiti ministry in
America practically since I was born.
I’m really excited to go and experience the things I’ve heard and seen
in pictures for years, and see what Jenny does. I think this experience is going to be tough,
but I’m still excited to be a part of it. I’m also excited to be on an airplane
for the first time in my life! That
should be an interesting experience!
We leave bright and early February 20 and will be in
Haiti for a week.
The church where we’ll be doing a LOT of
ministry
But the only way that I can do that is with your help!
The cost to go to Haiti is $1,400. I’ve
been selling candles and pies and doing odd jobs and have raised about $300 so
far. I wonder if you would consider
helping me raise the balance? No matter
how much you can give every little bit counts. Whether or not you can give financially, I
would really appreciate your prayers. We
need a lot of prayer! Prayer is a vital
part in anyone’s life, and especially in going on a mission trip. Whether it is Satan trying to attack you or
people trying to tear you down with words, prayer can help you make it through.
Thank you for your
time and I can’t wait to show you pictures when I get back from Haiti. Thanks and God bless.
