November.2012. an update on what God's doing in Haiti:)

7 weeks that I've been back in Haiti! Oy, time sure flies when you're having fun! ;)

The last 7 weeks have been incredible. God has reminded me everyday how loved I am and I couldn't ask for anything more...but He just keep GIVING me more! Like this life I get to live! So honored!

We hosted our first team the end of October. What a blast. 7 people from PA and 4 from good old Putnam County. I had the opportunity to translate in a medical clinic for a couple of days with them. Stan Curtis (my adopted grandpa:)) came on the team with three other people from Indiana. I spent the majority of the week with them. We evangelized, passed out fishing nets to fisherman, spent a day showing off beautiful Cap Haitien, worked in warehouses distributing food/supplies, spent an afternoon in a remote village at a children's club, preached, and encouraged many pastors. It was wonderful having 'family' in and working alongside of them in ministry for a week. Many lives were touched, and that's what it's all about! One day while we were evangelizing 3 people accepted Christ! Can you imagine the party in heaven?! THREE new brothers and sisters in Christ. So sweet.
The week flew by, and by the following Tuesday I was wiped. I think I slept for an entire day straight after they left! They were such a blessing.

I've been working with a new pastor, Pastor Frandz. It's been such a blessing working alongside him and see the work God has called him to in Haiti. There is a lot of voodoo in the zone he works in, and it's nothing to be sitting in church on Sunday morning and hear the drums beating down the road. We are a lot alike in the sense that, when he hears that..he just gets more on fire to tell the whole world about Jesus! This man has inspired me in many ways. His church is perfect. It was built by his people with their money. They sacrificed so much to build their bamboo & tin roof church. They have a medical clinic in an old house on the property, and a school of 72 students in an almost finished 3 room cinderblock/tarp roof building. The work he's doing is beautiful and I'm so honored to have the opportunity to work alongside of such a passionate brother in Christ.

November is fairly slow, which I don't mind at all! Today, I'm waiting on our broker at the dock to call and tell us our container is on its way to the warehouse to be unloaded. It's going to be an exciting day as we pass out 9,200 Christmas Bags to pastors all over Northern Haiti. check out: www.christmasbagsforhaiti.com for more info!

The remainder of the month will be spent studying creole. The Haitians call me "grimel" which means light colored Haitian. It's so encouraging to hear that! I finally feel like I'm making progress in the language! I can sit and talk for hours in creole. I absolutely love it. The best part is siting on a tap tap (public transportation) and pretending not to understand them when they're talking about the blanc (the white girl) and then make a little comment at the end about white people. It gets lots of laughs. :)

December 10, I will be meeting up with a team in Port au Prince. We will travel to Les Cayes and begin training for the Awana launch. Please be in prayer for that week. I've had so many people contact me about Awana in Haiti. I really believe God has huge plans for this program.

I fly home December 15 for Christmas. While I'm home an opportunity has opened up for me to travel to St. Louis and share my passion for missions and serving Jesus to high school/college students at the Urbana Conference...SO EXCITED!

I fly back to Haiti January 6. We have three back to back teams coming in January. Over 60 people will be staying at our house! It's going to be crazy and a blast! The end of January I have a dear friend coming and staying for three weeks, then the week after she leaves my family comes. Then...it's March! Woo! And that doesn't even count all of the exciting things that will be happening with Awana! Life is such an adventure. I wouldn't trade what I get to do for anything.

Thanks to all of you for praying for me and keeping up with everything. It's so encouraging getting "just thinking about you" emails. You all bless me so much!

Please continue to pray for:

*my truck. still very short on shipping/customs money. public transportation is very dangerous and limits the amount of ministry I'm able to do. when we had the rains this last week I couldn't go/do anything because public transportation was shut down. please pray that the money comes in and we can get my truck here! I really believe God has an incredible plan for it here, He provided it for a reason!

*Haiti. Haiti has officially been declared the worlds poorest country. the price of living went up 40%. And a bag of rice is higher than its ever been in Haitian history. pray that prices go down, employment goes up, and God shows us how to best help the Haitians in this difficult time.

*my family. my uncle Chris's leukemia is back and it doesn't look good. pray for peace and comfort for my family during this tough time. I wish I could be there with them. I know God is the Great Physician and He's in this. I'm so thankful for my uncle's crazy love for The Lord!

*awana. there are many last minute curriculum things that are currently being finished. pray that they go smoothly, God gives clear direction, and we are able to reach as many children for Him as possible!

*my laptop. this might be a silly prayer request. but it won't turn on and I have newly translated documents that I NEEED. and of course, they're only on my laptop. please pray that it turns on the next time I have the courage to try again:)

I read Psalm 15 this morning. My prayer for each of us is that we will successfully live out this Psalm and glorify Christ while we are doing it!:)

I'd LOVE to hear from you! jenny0992@gmail.com

All for Jesus.
