they call me,superman.

As part of our final project for the internship we had a day of awareness...'a day in the life' we called it. We fed the employees actual portions of beans and rice. We had SO much left over. Catherine and I didn't want to throw it away an waste everything. We thought that may be a little hypocritical, having a day of awareness and then just throwing everything away. So we got pint size boxes from a local Chinese restaurant and boxed the food into over 40 pint size boxes. A couple of days later we put everything in our backpacks and coolers, jumped on the metra and went downtown Chicago to feed the homeless. It was amazing.
We actually had a difficult time finding homeless people, which I think is a good thing. The first man we talked to was sleeping, so we decided to leave him food, as we started approaching he woke up. He was thankful for the food, and it was cool for us to have been able to give him some. We walked for another hour, and no luck. So we decided to head back to Union Station. Thinking maybe this was just a test, and God wanted to see if we would be willing to spend an evening in Chicago, and be open to talking to people. As we were heading back to Union, we stopped on the bridge and talked to a man who was asking for money. We asked if he had dinner, he said not yet but he would always be up for some food. So we gave him a box of beans and rice. I asked what his name was and he said, 'they call me superman'. That made my life. I could have stood and talked to superman all evening.
It was an awesome experience just going and sharing the love of Jesus. Even though we didn't have an opportunity to talk about Jesus, I hope that we made a difference in those two peoples lives.
'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' Matthew 25:40
