I’ve never been one to get extra excited about a piece of
jewelry, but every time I catch a glimpse of the solitaire diamond on my ring
finger my tummy fills with butterflies!
I am so excited about this next chapter in my life. I couldn’t have ever asked to share it with a
more amazing man! Our engagement was
perfect.
For Frantzy’s 30th birthday we’d made so many
plans and they all seemed to fall through.
Little did I know for each time we changed plans Frantzy had to come up
with a new way to propose! It worked out
perfectly and the entire proposal perfectly fit our relationship! We spent the day at Cormier Plage looking for
shells and sea glass, playing soccer, and swimming in the ocean. We made a new friend and took off on his
little Haitian tourist boat to see some of the close islands and beaches. One of them being Royal Carribean’s private
beach, Labadee. It was shocking to see
roller coasters, the world’s longest zip line, jet skis, and a bridge that
connected the coves! None of us had any idea
we had anything like that here in Haiti.
the birthday boy and Cilem! i can't help but laugh at their life jackets. they were so nervous for the boat ride!
our new friend, Afnel!
Can you see the roller coaster in the hill? and the zip line over the water? so cool!
We stopped at a few different beaches to tour hotels and
restaurants. On the way back it
happened! I was sitting on the edge of
the boat taking pictures of the scenery when I noticed the boat was quiet. I looked back and Frantzy was coming over, he
got on one knee and I just started giggling and saying yes – good thing he was
proposing and not tying my shoe or something!
After it was all over he said he had a huge speech prepared but since I
just kept saying yes I had saved him the work. I asked him what he was going to say but he
said it was cheesy and I’ve already said yes so there isn’t any reason for him
to repeat it. Maybe some day I’ll get it
out of him ;)
I look ridiculous in this picture but i just can't get over Frantzy's face :)
The proposal was perfect. We were on a Haitian boat, in the middle of the ocean, and there was no audience of any kind. Just our two friends, the fish and us! I had absolutely no idea it was coming! I knew that it would happen soon but I never would have guessed he’d do it when he did. I am so happy that Cilem grabbed my camera and snapped some photos for me! I’ll always cherish these! When we had all settled down our sweet friend who owned the boat said, “nobody has ever been proposed to on my boat before!” we all just laughed. When we arrived back at Cormier he was the first to tell everyone! I think everyone at the beach knew we’d gotten engaged before we even got off the boat!
we've already made plans to keep in touch with our new friend! we'll be supplying diapers and rice (when we have it) to his family and 7 month old baby!
December 28 is the big day! We're having a milk and cookie bar for the reception and we are so looking forward to spending the day with a ton of friends and family. We'll get married in Indiana and then have a small party back in Cap Haitien for our friends and family who don't have visas to America. The planning has already begun and I can't wait to begin this new life in only 88 days!
