Aug. 30...a little bit of everything :)

Frantzy and I have 3 good guy friends who we hire anytime we need some help and have extra money.  We recently learned they all 3 have daughters about the same age.  As we were packing and preparing for the Awana training and medical clinic we came across some donated items.  Thanks to everyone who donated these things.  These 3 men who work so hard to provide for their families will be able to bring home a surprise tonight :). Homemade bag, pillowcase dresses, giant coloring books, crayons, pink sunglasses, bubbles, hair accessories, hairbrush, and compact mirrors! So much fun!

While we were in the middle of packing these, my sweet neighbor came running over and asked Frantzy to come kill a spider.  I naively walked over assuming it was another wood spider.  Nope, tarantula!  This is the first one I've actually seen.  I've been bitten by one while sleeping and I've heard of them coming around my house but I've always been away. Ugh, Frantzy knocked it out with a book and then speared it to kill it.  If I ever come across one of these while I'm alone, I will die!

Frantzy had a donation come in for the medical clinic in Lester.  We were able to buy most of what we needed and it all came from a labrotory in Port au Pronce. So we were able to help out the economy as well!  It doesn't look like a lot...but we were able to purchase iodine,  amoxicillin, omiprazol, and enough medication to de-worm 1,000 people!  We are planning to see 200 patients and give de-wormer for everyone in their household!

We leave at 4am tomorrow morning to head to Gonaives for the Awana Seed Planters Conference where we are expecting 50 organizations to attend and be trained for 5 days.  We will then meet up with a team of 10 medical students and 2 Americans for a 2 day medical clinic in Lester where we expect to see about 200 patients.  Please pray for a SAFE trip and no car problems! We will be on the road for about 3.5 hours and crossing over 3 large mountains.  Our car is full of medicine and teaching materials and we'd e so grateful if it was covered in prayer!

Ps: it's 11pm...5 hours before we leave and the car is just now packed and ready. Please also pray for some extra energy and enthusiasm.  We've been going 100mph for a long time and we've got 2 more intense weeks!

Be blessed friends!
