It's been forever since I have posted anything on here, except my prayerletters, and for that I'm terribly sorry.I'm not sure who reads this anymore, but I'm sure a select few of you still do.
Oh, so much has happened.I'm still in shock that haiti had an earthquake.I found out about it through a short email from my mom saying they made it out of the country just before the earthquake hit,and that they were alive, and they knew Don and Karen were okay.I was in South America. There was nothing I could have done if something had happened to them, and Ben was in America alone. The thought of that, devestates me. I'm so thankful Jesus was lookin' out for us.Everytime I could get on a computer or look through a window to see the evening news while I was in Colombia I would, and everytime it would be about Haiti.Everytime I saw it I was sick.I'm so in love with this country, this is where God has called me, and being in another country, not being able to do anything but pray, while the country you are so attached to is in desperate need of help. yeah,I'm going to be honest and say, it sucks.I had nightmares for nights after I would see the news, I wouldn't be able to sleep, I would be up worrying about what was going to come, if there was going to be another earthquake, what the missionaries were going through, and most of all, wondering if the Haitian people would be angry at God for this.that thought, terrified me.all the work the missionaries had done, and the haitians upset with God, how would the missionaries answer a desperate mothers questions, when she asked why her baby died in this quake, why God would allow this to happen?having no contact with the missionaries, and the country.it was hard.
i'm not sure if you know this, but God turned this disaster around, and it seems He has totally used it for His glory.it's opened up times for missionaries to talk to more people, the haitians have been worshipping, praying, fasting, publically.and i got a phonecall the other day from someone, who was ecstatic to tell me that since the quake, it's estimated that over 40,000 haitians have accepted Christ as their Saviors.yes, their Savior. He's the only one who can really help them, we can get them food, shelter, clothing, etc.but what they really need is Him.
for those of you who don't know.my dad, didn't like us working with haiti.he didn't like that we spent so much time talking about it,that we were practically obsessed with the country, and we would take any chance we got to work with missionaries, organizations, etc.he just didn't like it.this time 3 years ago, it took a lot for us to get him to just go to church.God's been working in my dad.not only is he totally in love with Jesus, but he's in love with haiti too.he went.he went to haiti for my mom and i.he wanted to see where i was going to be some day.and he wanted to see where my mom wished she could go and never leave.and he loved it.he journaled for me the entire time he was there, and i read it when i got back.it was amazing.my dad's amazing.i'm so proud of him.he loves haiti.he loves me so much that he flew there to experience it.and he loves Jesus in a whole new way.
Jesus loves my family.
